Between Sea and Sky – Beachhouse Zeebrugge

“Enjoy a relaxing sea breeze as you gaze out over the stunning North Sea”, promises the website of Beach House, a luxurious apartment complex in Zeebrugge. But you don’t even have to look outside to be impressed. Just admire the building’s magnificent interiors, crafted by Luyten Interiolizers.

“We decorated all three apartments”, project manager Annelien Swennen explains. “This was a truly unique project, not just due to its location, also because of the unique materials we used. Each apartment has a totally different atmosphere, and its own distinct personality.”

Terra Residence

The apartment interiors were created mainly by Luyten Interiolizers, in collaboration with interior architect Jessy Van Gorp. “Each apartment has its own identity,” Jessy confirms. “Take for instance Beach House Terra, on the ground floor: it has an earthy look and feel. It’s designed to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. This beachfront home offers uninterrupted views of a shell or flower garden, and of the beach itself – emphasizing the dialogue with nature, and capturing the essence of coastal living.”

“In the kitchen, you have oak cabinets and an oversized island with a pebbled terrazzo texture that references the coastal terrain. This multifunctional island is a sculptural, cube-shaped piece with curved cutouts, combining three functions in one to optimize space. The custom-made lounge chairs feature muted tones with oak accents. They are complemented by a curved sofa and a cigar-shaped ottoman, which echo contours in the office space. The TV is cleverly concealed behind a decorative panel.”

“In the bedrooms and shower enclosures, cylindrical elements with stainless steel accents define the sinks, while a freestanding, rotating oak cabinet adds flexibility. And then there’s the truly standout feature: the off-white micromosaic tiles are made from recycled computer screens. These tiles are paired with natural stone floors and lava stone tabletops.”

“In the living area, you can relax on a custom-made sofa that fits snugly into the recess of the kitchen island. The movable AquaClean cube lounge chairs are perfect for entertaining or for enjoying the sea view. This design theme continues in the bedrooms, with rotating wardrobes, custom-made storage solutions, elevated beds, and curved cabinet walls.”

Infinitum Residence

From the Infinitum apartment, you can enjoy the best view in Zeebrugge of the endless coastal horizon. The glass extension opens up to a vista of sweeping sands that dissolve imperceptibly into the North Sea. “Hours of viewing pleasure guaranteed,” says Van Gorp. “With a surface of 200 square meters, this apartment exudes harmony and balance, designed to immerse residents in the serene beauty of the sea. With these breathtaking coastal views in mind, every design detail of the apartment is carefully crafted to create a cozy, tranquil, yet functional living space that effortlessly embodies the spirit of coastal living.”

“For the kitchen, we chose a stainless steel island paired with glossy, deeply brushed oak – complete with a breakfast bar and custom-made oak stools. These stools have hidden wheels that automatically lock in place when you sit down. The kitchen is sleek and minimalist, with concealed appliances and sliding doors that hide the pantry from view. The wine cabinet too is tucked away behind elegant sliding panels. In the living and dining area, panoramic coastal views take centre stage. The bedrooms feature materials such as recycled off-black tiles, natural stone, granite, and microcement.”

“Infinitum Residence captures the perfect balance of light, volume, and materials. By overcoming technical challenges, the project succeeds in delivering a timeless, functional, and sustainable interior with impeccable finishes and customized solutions.”

Beach House Stellar

In Beach House Stellar, you find yourself suspended between sea and sky. On the rooftop terrace, stunning daytime views alternate with spectacular starry skies at night. No matter the hour, the view is always amazing.

“In the kitchen, we designed an eight-meter-long sculptural island, made of lime-based, aubergine-coloured terrazzo,” says Van Gorp. “We created an illusion of beams harmoniously integrated in between the various oak elements. Like the other two kitchens, this one is sleek and minimalist, with appliances elegantly concealed. A Harry Kiefer lounge chair takes pride of place in the lounge area, where the chair is perfectly positioned for you to make the most of the panoramic coastal view. Chairs by Bonni Bonne surround the terrazzo dining table with brushed oak base. The fireplace wall aligns beautifully with the kitchen cabinetry, forming a sculptural block of oak in the lounge.”

“Beach House is a prestigious project,” concludes Van Gorp. “The three apartments harmoniously combine light, space, and materiality. The project successfully tackled complex technical challenges, resulting in a timeless, practical, and eco-conscious interior, sculpted with exceptional craftsmanship.”
